A woman was shifted to a hospital in a serious condition as her in-laws claimed that she committed self-immolation over a domestic dispute, a claim rejected by her family, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Hyderabad where the hospital administration said she had been shifted to Karachi due to her precarious condition. Around 90 percent of her body received burns, they added.

In this connection, police say the victim, Ayesha, stated in her statement that she resorted to self-immolation after having quarrel with the in-laws over some issue related to children.

However, her family doubts the assertion. Her uncle, Sajid Arain, said Ayesha’s husband used to torture his niece on regular basis.

According to Ayesha’s her in-laws, she committed self-immolation. If Ayesha committed self-immolation at her home then why no one saved her, he questioned.

Sajid said her niece – married to Rizwan Arain in 2011 – was a mother of two and demanded immediate arrest of her husband so that they could get justice.
