Bergling was born in Stockholm on September 8, 1989, and started mixing when he was just eight years old.

His real name was taken when he went to create his Myspace page, so he chose the name Avicii, which means “the lowest level of Buddhist hell”.

His hit singles include ‘Collide’, ‘I Could be the One’, ‘You Make Me’, ‘Hey Brother’ and ‘Lonely Together'.

He first found fame in 2010 with the song ‘Seek Bromance’, which reached number 10 in the UK singles chart.

In October 2011 Avicii became a household name when he released the hit song ‘Levels’, which reached the top 10 in countries across Europe, including the UK. It was one of the first electronic songs to find mainstream pop success.

The following year he collaborated on ‘Sunshine’ with David Guetta, and also set off on 'House for Hunger', a US tour that donated its proceeds to combating food insecurity worldwide.

From 2011 to 2016, Bergling played an estimated 220 Avicii sets globally, including a five-year residency in Ibiza.

He also released his first studio album, True, which features ‘Wake Me Up’ – voiced by Aloe Blacc. His second album, Stories, came out in 2015 and his third, Tim, was released in 2019 after his death.

Avicii collaborated with the likes of Nile Rodgers, Robbie Williams, Chris Martin, Billie Joe Armstrong, Adam Lambert and Madonna over the course of his career.

On March 26, 2019, Bergling’s family launched a mental health and suicide prevention foundation, named the Tim Bergling Foundation. The foundation works internationally to educate people and businesses on the issues surrounding suicide and mental health.
