In a small village nestled between the lush hills of northeast India, there grew a magical plant called the tea bush. This plant was cherished by the locals for its soothing leaves, which they brewed into a delightful drink called ‘Tea’.

Today, on May 21, International Tea Day is celebrated globally honoring its history and journey across cultures.

This special day provides us an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage, health benefits, and economic importance of tea.

International Tea Day is a day designated by the United Nations to highlight the cultural and economic significance of tea as it’s the second most consumed beverage after water.

Tea is believed to have originated in northeast India, north Myanmar, and southeast China.

The idea of International Tea Day was decided at the World Social Forum in 2004.

This year, the theme to celebrate this special day is “Women and their role in the tea sector".

Women play a crucial role in the tea industry, especially in the vast tea plantations of India, Myanmar, and China. They are the backbone of this sector, working tirelessly to pluck the tender tea leaves, process them, and bring them to our cups. Their dedication ensures that we can enjoy tea's myriad benefits.

Thanks to all those women making our every day happy with tea!

In Pakistan, ‘chai’ or ‘tea’ is not just a drink but a symbol of hospitality and warmth. Sharing a cup of tea is a way to bond with family and friends, to celebrate moments of joy, and find comfort in times of sorrow and a sense of togetherness and tradition.

Hilariously here we have a concept of having tea in Pakistan.
