The daughters of Bushra Bibi, the wife of former PM Imran Khan, have released a video statement over the ‘smear campaign’ against their mother.

The elder daughter said she broke the silence late as she had family constraints because she is married to a family member who has been a PML-N supporter.

According to her, she was made to air the video as she could not bear the smear campaign and the character assassination of her mother.

She swore that her mother had never met Imran Khan without the veil.

“My mother is a noble lady,” she said questioning if ‘campaigners’ saw her mother meeting Imran Khan without the veil.

She said her mother was passionate about seeking Islamic knowledge.

She added: “ My mother never claimed she was a spiritual leader.

“She educated the people about Islam.

“She shared the knowledge she had.”

The younger daughter of Bushra Bibi too shared the damage the family suffered after their parents divorced. She also swore that her mother had never claimed that she was a spiritual leader

Though she is known for her devotion to Sufism, people call her a spiritual leader, she said and questioned why people smear such a ‘noble lady’.

She said Aun Chaudhry should show respect as her mother put his wife in the right direction.

She said her father Khawar Farid Maneka could have been under some sort of pressure.
