Five more children have died as measles has become an epidemic in district Dadu as well as in its outskirts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

And despite the fact that 27 children have lost their lives due to the disease so far and 150 have fallen prey to it, the authorities are still to set up isolation wards in the affected tehsils of the district such as Johi, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehr.

Doctors at a rural health center in Dadu have confirmed the deaths of two children, while there are reports of 13 children contracting the disease in Bajhi Khan and Kamal Khan villages.

On Sunday, 24News TV channel reported that 22 children had died from measles in Dadu in only 15 days.
The channel further reported that over a hundred children suffering from the disease had been admitted to hospitals where the lack of facilities and frequent power outages had emerged as an obstacle in the treatment of patients.
More than 40 kids were referred to a hospital in Sehwan Sharif when their condition deteriorated.
