Baba Ghulam Farid Urs celebrations called off

The district administration has decided to cancel the annual Urs celebrations of Sufi Saint Baba Ghulam Farid (RA) in Pakpattan due to rising cases of Covid-19, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
As the caseload of coronavirus is piling up each passing day with the speeding march of Indian variant across the country, the district administration of Pakpattan has decided to call off the 779th Urs celebrations of Sufi Saint Baba Ghulam Farid Ganj Shakkar (RA).
The local authorities have directed the shrine administration to observe the Urs celebrations symbolically. The heavenly gate (Bahishti Darwaza) would be opened for only two nights symbolically instead of the traditional five nights.
According to the administration, common devotees would not be allowed to participate in the Urs celebrations of the saint.
