Urwa Hocane, Sabeen Farooq put weight behind ‘act of kindness’

Urwa Hocane and Sabeen Farooq have lent emotional support to clips posted by DumbTVofficial, a page known for its so-called ‘social experiments’.

“Cried so much watching this! It's sad but so heartwarming,” Urwa captioned a two-minute clip in which a DumbTV actor cheerily pretends to transform the day of a struggling street vendor.

In the video, the ‘generous’ actor appears more animated than the poor man supposedly receiving the help, a detail that hasn't gone unnoticed. The performance leans more toward self-celebration than genuine compassion.

Urwa also shared other similar clips from the page, which has 65,200 followers, while she herself boasts 6.5 million followers.

Sabeen Farooq shared a video showing the actor handing a roadside cobbler a pair of shoes to mend, although the footage does not show what was wrong with the pair. What it does highlight, quite pointedly, is the hidden stash of Rs5,000 stuffed inside the shoe.

“This is the power of halal money,” reads DumbTV’s caption, praising the cobbler’s honesty after he returns the cash. But again, the so-called test of character seems more about showcasing the giver’s virtue than celebrating the recipient’s dignity.

In the clip, the actor returns a while later to ‘test’ the cobbler’s honesty and eventually hands over the money as a reward, with the camera rolling the entire time.

The tone of the exchange veers into preachy territory, centring the emotional payoff not on the humble worker but on the orchestrator’s righteousness.

“Scrolled, paused, and cried,” captioned Sabeen, who enjoys a fan base of 1.2 million followers.
