Punjab CM calls for collective efforts to combat AIDS

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued a heartfelt message on World AIDS Day, emphasizing the need for collective action to tackle the disease, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday. 

In a press statement, she calling AIDS a critical social and economic issue, had urged all sectors of society to play their part in prevention efforts.

“We are committed to transforming individuals affected by AIDS into productive members of society through treatment and guidance,” Maryam Nawaz said, adding that patients deserve compassion, not hatred.

Highlighting the inequalities in access to AIDS prevention, testing, and treatment, she underscored the importance of eliminating these disparities to ensure a more inclusive healthcare system. 

The CM also lauded the contributions of communities actively working for AIDS eradication and patient care.

Maryam Nawaz informed that standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mandatory AIDS screenings during dialysis are being strictly implemented through Punjab province.

 Referring to a recent incident in Multan, she confirmed legal action against those found negligent in following protocols during dialysis procedures.

The chief minister stated that concrete steps are being taken to achieve the targets for AIDS prevention and treatment, ensuring a healthier and more equitable future for all.
