JCP approves appointment of 10 additional judges in PHC

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which met on Saturday with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi in the chair, approved the names of eight lawyers and two district and sessions judges for their appointment as additional judges in the Peshawar High Court (PHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

In all, the names of four district and sessions judges and 36 lawyers were considered for the purpose. 

Those whose appointment was given a green signal were District and Sessions Judges Farah Jamshed and Inamullah, Advocate Qazi Jawad, Mudassar Ameer, Abdul Fayyaz, Salahuddin, Sadiq Ali, Tariq Afridi and Sabit Ali. 

Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Barrister Ali Zafar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) law minister opposed the appointment of additional judges.
