India faces diplomatic scrutiny amid Modi-Epstein connection

A controversial email allegedly linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein has triggered political and diplomatic tensions in India, with claims referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to reports published in Indian media, the email suggests that Modi consulted Epstein and participated in performative activities, including music and dance, during his July 2017 visit to Israel, allegedly for the benefit of the US President. 

The email, purportedly written three days after Modi’s Israel trip, ends with the note “It worked,” further fueling speculation.

The Indian National Congress opposition party has demanded an immediate explanation from Prime Minister Modi. Party leaders described the alleged mention in the Epstein files as a serious matter affecting national dignity and India’s global standing. 

They warned that the documents imply a longstanding and potentially deep connection between Modi and Epstein, which must be clarified.

Epstein, notorious for his involvement in human trafficking and sexual crimes against minors, makes any claim associated with him highly sensitive. 

Experts have highlighted that Modi’s so-called “Shining India” image is being tarnished internationally, noting that performative gestures during the Israel visit may have been aimed at securing U.S. support. 

Critics argue that, despite these efforts, India still faced punitive U.S. trade tariffs, undermining the intended diplomatic outcomes.

Political commentators have quipped that Modi’s “Shining India” brand may now be more accurately described as “Dancing India,” reflecting the allegations of public performances linked to international lobbying efforts.

The controversy continues to unfold as Indian citizens and the international community await clarification from the Prime Minister on the nature of his interactions with Epstein.
