PML-N candidate elected unopposed in PP-289 by-election

The by-election for the Punjab Assembly seat PP-289 in Dera Ghazi Khan concluded without polling as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Usama Abdul Karim was elected unopposed.

According to details, nine out of the 11 candidates withdrew their nomination papers yesterday, while the tenth candidate retired from the contest today. With no remaining opposing candidates, Usama Abdul Karim was declared elected unopposed.

The seat of PP-289 fell vacant after PML-N’s Mehmood Qadir Leghari was elected a member of the National Assembly, the returning officer confirmed.
