Specialized Institutions Act 2025 to abolish status of govt employees in teaching hospital

Punjab government has decided to change PTI-era MTI Act with Punjab Specialized Institutions Act 2025which will be applied on new teaching hospitals and government has constituted a search and nomination committee under this act. 

The Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974, will not be applicable to employees of government teaching hospitals. The board will decide on the recruitment and tenure of employees of government teaching hospitals. The doctors and staff of the teaching hospital will be at the mercy of the board. 

The new law will abolish the status of government employees for doctors and staff of government teaching hospitals. Doctors and medical staff in teaching hospitals will be able to work at the pleasure of the board members. 

Under the new law, the board of government teaching hospitals will have wide powers.
