China not to sit idle in case India stops water flow to Pakistan: Victor Gao
Chinese analyst says China supports protection of Pakistan’s interests
Warning India against stopping the flow of rivers to Pakistan, the Center for China and Globalization Vice President and a senior Chinese analyst, Victor Gao, has said that China is situated at the top of India, and it will not remain silent in case India tries to rob Pakistan of its share in water, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In an interview with an Indian news channel, he has said that China will consider any such attempt by India as an attack on its alliance with Pakistan.
Gao has said that India should bear this thing in mind that it lies at the center of rivers originating from China. “If it commits water aggression against Pakistan, it can imagine what China will do in such circumstances.”
The Chinese analyst asked India not to mete out treatment to other countries which it deems inappropriate for itself. “China supports complete protection of Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and rights. We will never compromise on Pakistan’s interests,” he stated categorically, adding, “There exists the Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan. It's violation will be a breach of international law.”
Defence experts, on the other hand, have said that China might use the Brahamputra Card in the event of India blocking the flow of rivers to Pakistan.
They have also termed it an open threat to the Indian government.
