President Zardari stresses need for bringing Pakistan, Bangladesh closer

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that there is a need to take steps to bring Pakistan and Bangladesh closer to each other, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Speaking at a reception hosted in honour of the Pakistan and Bangladesh cricket teams at the Governor’s House in Lahore, the president has said that the governments of both countries will have to work for the prosperity of their peoples.  

“I belong to that generation that had seen Pakistan split into two,” he has said, and added that the new generation cannot feel the pain of partition.

"The Bangladeshi team is an ambassador of its country in Pakistan," he has said, adding that through sports, people of different countries get the chance to interact with each other.    

President Zardari has also hailed the performance of the Pakistan cricket team during the three-match T-20 series between Pakistan and Bangladesh being played at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore. 

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present on the occasion.
