Pakistan raises Zeeshan Mir case with India, seeks consular access

Pakistan has formally taken up with India the case of a Pakistani youth who reportedly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Indian-administered Kashmir, diplomatic sources said.

According to the sources, Pakistani national Zeeshan Mir allegedly crossed the LoC and entered the Uri sector in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports suggest that he crossed the border in an attempt to meet his girlfriend.

Diplomatic sources said that the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi has raised the matter with India's Ministry of External Affairs and sought official confirmation regarding Zeeshan Mir's reported arrest.

The sources added that Pakistan has also requested consular access to the youth to verify his identity and assess his condition.

According to diplomatic officials, Pakistani authorities will be able to formally identify Zeeshan Mir after consular access is granted by the Indian side.

The matter remains under diplomatic engagement, and Pakistan is awaiting an official response from India regarding the reported detention and the request for consular access.

Further developments are expected as communication between the two countries continues on the issue.
