Kidnapper killed in Bahawalpur police encounter

An accused who kidnapped and killed a minor girl was shot dead during a police encounter in Yazman Market in Bahawalpur District, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Hassan Iqbal said the police arrested the accused, Sham Ram alias Pawali, after hectic efforts.

A police team arrived at the crime scene after obtaining information from the arrested accused.

As soon as the police team reached the spot, accomplices of the accused started firing on the police party.

During the exchange of fire, accused Sham Ram was killed after being shot by his own accomplices.

Police sealed the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the culprits. The DPO said that the accused will be awarded an exemplary punishment as per the law. 

He said the law will catch those who commit atrocities against minors.
