Punjab Bar Council Elections 2025: Who Won & Who Lost!

Elections for representatives of bar councils across Punjab were held on Saturday, with lawyers from various districts casting their votes to elect new members to the Punjab Bar Council.

Polling took place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a one-hour break. Soon after the voting process concluded in the evening, results from several districts began to pour in.

Lahore High Court Bar Elections

At the Lahore High Court Bar, counting began soon after polls closed for the 16 seats allocated to the Lahore constituency. The process is being conducted under the supervision of the presiding officer in the presence of candidates’ agents to ensure transparency.

A total of 52 polling booths were set up for the Lahore seats, with 31,462 lawyers eligible to cast their votes. According to the Election Committee, 77 candidates were in the running for these 16 seats. Across the Lahore Division, 42,415 voters were registered to vote for a total of 20 seats.

Mianwali District Bar Results

The Punjab Bar Council election results from the Mianwali District Bar have been announced. Out of 550 registered votes, 380 votes were polled, marking a strong turnout.

According to the final count:

Malik Subh Sadiq Awan secured 148 votes

Malik Shahid Iqbal Awan also received 148 votes, resulting in a tie for the top position

Jawad Mazhar Dhawan obtained 78 votes, finishing third

Six votes were rejected due to incorrect stamping

Multan Region

Four out of 23 candidates were declared successful in the Punjab Bar Council elections.

According to the unconfirmed results, Malik Khan Langah Advocate came first, Khawaja Qaiser Butt Advocate came second and Nadeem Kanju Advocate came third. Syed Badar Gilani Advocate came fourth with more than 1,000 votes. 

As soon as the unconfirmed results came out, the lawyers' supporters celebrated in the court. The winning candidates were carried on shoulders by supporters and rose petals were showered on them. Bhangra and slogans continued to be chanted in the district court to the beat of drums.

Counting of votes in Punjab Bar Council elections continued till late night. Polling turnout recorded at 54.25 percent in the election. There was a tough competition between 23 candidates on 4 seats of the district.

Eleven additional sessions judges performed duties as presiding officers as 11 polling booths were set up for lawyers and voters. The number of registered voters in the district was 5,410 and 2,935 votes were cast. Polling was completed in a peaceful atmosphere from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Foolproof security arrangements were made for the Punjab Bar Council elections. A large number of lawyers, supporters and voters were present in the court during voting. The final official results will be released by the Returning Officer later.

The elections were described by observers as peaceful and orderly, with strict adherence to polling procedures across Punjab.

Counting of votes in major divisions, including Lahore, is expected to continue late into the night, with official consolidated results to be announced by the Punjab Bar Council Election Committee in the coming days.
