Commission receives more 22 cases of missing persons in August

The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (COIOED) Wednesday confirmed that it had received 22 new cases of missing persons in the last month of August 2021.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the commission's spokesman said that the total number of missing persons’ cases had reached at 8122.
He said that the commission had already disposed of a total of 5,853 cases of missing persons till August 31, 2021.
The spokesman said that the commission had disposed of a total of 56 cases of mission persons in the last month of August 2021.
He said the National Commission held hearings in Islamabad, Quetta, Karachi and Lahore during August 2021 and 14 cases in Punjab, 9 in Sindh, 17 in KPK, 14 in Balochistan and 2 in Islamabad disposed of.
Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal is heading the three-member commission for missing persons constituted by the Ministry of Interior on the Supreme Court’s directions.
Justice (Retd) Dr Ghous Muhammad and former inspector general police Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sharif Virk were also members of the commission.
