The Punjab government has decided to give flourmills Rs700 subsidy on each bag of 40kg to ensure smooth supply of flour to people at affordable rates in the holy month of Ramazan.
However, people will get a subsidy of just Rs220 per bag (40kg) and God knows who will benefit from the remaining Rs480 per bag subsidy.
Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has approved this subsidy for flourmills. As per the official rate nowadays, people are buying a 10kg flour bag for Rs430. After the subsidy takes effect, people will pay Rs375 for each bag of 10kg. So people will get just Rs75 relief on each flour bag of 10kg in Ramazan. The remaining subsidy of R175 on each flour bag of 10kg will go into the pockets of flourmill owners.
