40 more succumbed to coronavirus as positivity ratio reaches 8.61pc
The so-called fourth wave of coronavirus seems to gain momentum in Pakistan as the country sees an increase in the positivity ratio of coronavirus cases to 8.61 per cent, reported 24News HD TV channel.
As many as 40 more people succumbed to coronavirus and 4,858 new cases emerged during the last 24 hours (Sunday), showed the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday morning.
According to the statistics released by NCOC, after the addition of 40 new deaths, the toll has now surged to 23, 462, which represents a ratio of 2.3 percent.
The positivity ratio of the coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 8.61 percent, as 4,858 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 56,414 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 1,039,695 that returned positive after conducting 16,108,532 total tests so far.
The number of active cases in the country is 73,213 with 3,441 patients in critical condition.
There were 1,361 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours as the number of total recovered cases reached 943,020 with a 90.7% recovery rate.
Punjab, the most populous province of the country, has reported 815 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 357,735 with 13,470 active cases. In Punjab, 8 more patients died of coronavirus as the death toll reached 11,067. With 368 new recoveries, 333,198 patients have recovered from the virus in Punjab so far.
Sindh has recorded 2,549 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 385,414 with 46,616 active cases. With 20 new deaths related to the deadly disease, the death toll in Sindh reached 6,021. With 368 new recoveries, 332,777 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 584 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 144,848 with 4,110 active cases. The province reported 6 new virus-related deaths as the death toll reached 4,468. With 163 new recoveries, 136,270 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Balochistan has recorded another 70 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 30,502 with 1,199 active cases. The province reported no new deaths as the death toll remains 328. With 103 new recoveries, 28,975 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Islamabad has recorded 384 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 88,093 with 3,847 active cases. With no new death reported in the Federal Capital, the death toll remains 803. With 111 new recoveries, the number of recovered patients is 83,443 in the federal capital so far.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Azad Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 390 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 24,891 with 3,158 active cases. With 3 new deaths reported, the death toll reaches 628. There were 147 new recoveries in the AJK as 21,105 patients have recovered so far from the virus.
Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 56 new cases during the last 24 hours, as the tally reached 8,212 with 813 active cases. With 3 new deaths reported in the province as the death toll reaches 147. There were 101 new recoveries as the number of patients recovered from the deadly disease reached 7,252.
