Talal Chaudhry criticises KP Chief Minister’s priorities after Waziristan AC martyred

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, in a video message on Tuesday, condemned the martyrdom of the Assistant Commissioner of Waziristan in yet another terrorist attack, stating that other officials and a passerby were also killed in the incident.

Chaudhry said that militants were continuously infiltrating from neighbouring countries to carry out acts of terrorism and stressed that the fight against terrorism was a shared responsibility. “We all have to fulfil our duty in the war on terrorism,” he remarked.

Criticising Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the minister questioned whether the CM should have gone to Waziristan to attend the funeral of the slain AC or chosen instead to go to Adiala Jail for political reasons.

“After he became Chief Minister, several terrorist incidents took place, how many homes of martyrs has he visited so far?” Chaudhry asked, adding that the top provincial executive “does not seem concerned at all” while officers under his command continue to be killed.

He criticised the KP government for prioritising political theatre over security matters, stating that the Chief Minister preferred “spending the night on the road and playing political games” instead of standing with the families of martyrs.

Chaudhry said that, as per the law, steps would be taken to ensure that KP’s resources are used against terrorism and not wasted on political activities while “the province continues to burn in the fire of terrorism.”
