Train for Afghan trade soon: Sh Rashid

Says Tezgam tragedy culprits will be taken to task

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid on Sunday said that the real culprits of Tezgam tragedy will be punished soon.

Speaking at a news conference at Railway Camp Office in Karachi, he said as per the directions of the Supreme Court we are going to hold a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister.

To a question, Sh Rashid said “We are facing so many problems and do not have resources, so can’t run a new train right now.”

The minister said the department will improve its performance manifold. “Karachi is an important city, and we will improve the situation on priority basis. Immediately after Supreme Court verdict, TL employees will be made permanent.”

Sheikh Rashid said that in the meeting with Sindh Chief Minister they are going to talk about land allotment to their department, so that Karachi Circular Railway project could be started. Train for Afghan trade will be launched soon, he added.

He said that soon Lahore Railway officers will be deployed to Karachi and tenders for Thar Railway will be issued.
