The process of abolishing slots from grade 1 to 16 slots, which remained unfilled for a year, has begun. 

All vacant posts in federal ministries, divisions, executive departments are being abolished and a cabinet body for implementation permitted the finance ministry to get the job done.

The ministry wrote a letter to the Establishment Division for the purpose, saying that the bill for salaries of government officials and pensions was unbearable.

It added up to 16 grade officials and pensions have 80 percent share of total bill while the PM expressed the desire to get such slots abolished.

The World Bank recommended cut in number of government officials, the letter said adding that the Establishment Division be further proceedings for the purpose.
