Two children were killed after a mortar bomb exploded in the South Waziristan district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The children were identified as 12-year-old Hameed and 8-year-old Shazia.
The incident took place in the Shawal area of South Waziristan —erstwhile FATA, that has now been merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Located along Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, South Waziristan used to be a hotbed of militancy, but the security forces have successfully flushed out the terrorists from the area in separate armed offensives.
