Committee reaffirms commitment to peace, religious harmony in Balochistan

The National Peace Message Committee at a press conference held in Quetta on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, religious harmony and national unity in Balochistan.

Addressing the media, prominent religious scholars including Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi and Mufti Abdul Rahim emphasized that sustainable peace and long-term stability in Balochistan depend on credible religious consensus, effective governance and comprehensive efforts to counter violent extremism.

The committee stated that public trust, a coherent national narrative and prevention of extremist recruitment are essential to making recent security gains sustainable in the province. Religious scholars from all schools of thought, along with minority community leaders, expressed full solidarity with the state of Pakistan, its constitutional structure and national security decisions under the platform of NPMC.

Participants highlighted that religious and community leaders can play a significant role in reducing tensions in the aftermath of security incidents by promoting unity and discouraging extremist narratives. They noted that a positive and moderate narrative rooted in religion could further strengthen national cohesion while respecting Balochistan’s cultural diversity.

The committee also called on Afghanistan to refrain from supporting Fitna al-Khawarij in any form and voiced full support for Pakistan’s armed forces in their efforts against extremist elements. Speakers expressed solidarity with Iran and condemned any attacks on the country, while also stressing that damaging national assets in response to international developments cannot be justified.

The NPMC further appreciated the contributions of the Frontier Corps, the Pakistan Army and the people of Balochistan for their resilience against terrorism and extremism. The committee also conveyed solidarity with Muslims in Gaza and Iran and reiterated that religious minorities in Pakistan stand united with all communities in support of national peace and stability.
