FO says there is no ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi has said that there was no temporary ceasefire in effect between Pakistan and Afghanistan. 

In a press statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson said that there was a limited three-day break between Pakistan and Afghanistan only on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr and this temporary ceasefire break had ended at that time. 

Pakistan has also rejected British Special Representative for Afghanistan Richard Lindsay’s remarks on Pakistan-Afghan border by calling them one-sided.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said infiltration from Afghan side continued despite March pause. “Remarks ignore root causes of terrorism and fail to present balanced perspective,” the FO spokesperson added.

"The one-sided remarks are devoid of a deeper understanding of the situation along the border. Cross-border aggression and terrorist infiltration attempts from the Afghan side have continued unabated despite Pakistan’s goodwill gesture of a temporary pause, announced in March 2026. Pakistan, while exercising restraint, has responded effectively by precisely targeting Afghan Taliban posts and terrorist support infrastructure, while also thwarting multiple infiltration attempts from the Afghan side," the statement said.
