Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed "serious concern" Friday over reports that foreign militants from the Middle East were fighting in the Karabakh conflict, a statement from the Kremlin said.

"Both sides expressed serious concern over the received information about the involvement in military action of militants of illegal armed groups from the Middle East," the statement said following a phone call between the two leaders.
