The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has decided to issue licences to 1.2 million LPG shops across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to Ogra, no shop owner will be allowed to sell LPG without a licence.

About 1.2 million LPG shops were operating throughout the country without licences. Only in Lahore, 6,000 shop owners will be issued licences.

The issuance of licences will help in minimizing the substandard gas cylinders.

Welcoming the development, LPG Association President Arfan Khokhar said the issuance of licences will also help in implementing the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
