The assistance package will cover life-saving health services for the injured and vulnerable, while also supporting water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities to prevent the outbreak of diseases. In addition, cash assistance will be given to help affected families meet their essential needs during the recovery process.
EU officials stressed that the aid is aimed not only at addressing immediate humanitarian requirements but also at preventing secondary disasters such as disease outbreaks. The announcement comes as rescue and relief operations continue in multiple provinces, where heavy rains have damaged homes, crops, and infrastructure, further deepening the crisis for thousands of families.
