PML-N leaders say party secured majority to form govt in AJK

Federal Minister Amir Muqam and the Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, have claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured a simple majority in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly and is now in a position to form the next government.

Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad on Monday, the two leaders said the PML-N had won 23 of the Assembly's 45 seats, giving the party a simple majority.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, they said the party would now work to address what they described as the ideological, financial and political challenges facing Jammu and Kashmir.

Rana Sanaullah said the AJK elections had been conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner and claimed that voters had endorsed the vision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif by supporting the PML-N.

The PM's Adviser on Political Affairs added that the Nawaz League would honour all of its election commitments after assuming office in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Responding to criticism from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Rana Sanaullah alleged that the party had begun raising allegations of electoral rigging as soon as polling started.
