Surprise: Miley Cyrus confirms engagement to Maxx Morando

Miley Cyrus has officially announced her engagement to musician Maxx Morando but the timing has sparked a wave of online reaction, with many fans drawing comparisons to her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s recent engagement.

The 33-year-old pop star revealed the news on Tuesday while attending the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere in Hollywood, where she was seen flashing a stunning 14kt yellow-gold engagement ring. The ring, estimated at around US$150,000, immediately caught attention as Miley and Maxx posed together on the blue carpet.

The announcement comes just three months after Liam Hemsworth confirmed his engagement to model Gabriella Brooks in September, a coincidence that fans were quick to point out.

Shortly after Miley’s engagement went public, social media platforms were filled with comments questioning whether the timing was intentional.

One user wrote, “Hmmm… coincidence that she’s gotten engaged soon after Liam?” while another remarked, “Announced the same time that Liam’s engagement is making headlines.” A third added, “Timing does seem a little suspect!”

Despite the online chatter, Miley appeared radiant and comfortable as she showcased the eye-catching ring, which features an elongated cushion-cut diamond set east-west in a bold, vintage-inspired yellow-gold bezel.

Jewellery expert Olivia Landau, Founder and CEO of The Clear Cut, described the piece as a “cool, modern take on a classic silhouette”, estimating the diamond to be around 3–4 carats. She noted that if the stone is natural, the ring could cost anywhere between US$75,000 and US$150,000.

The ring was crafted by Los Angeles–based luxury jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche. According to Aiche’s brand philosophy, each gemstone is hand-selected “for its unique energy and natural beauty.”

Miley and Maxx, who have largely kept their relationship low-key, made their red-carpet appearance amid growing interest from fans and the media. The pair first sparked dating rumours in late 2021 but have maintained a private dynamic.

Miley was previously married to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth from 2018 to 2020. Their relationship continues to draw attention each time one of them makes a major personal announcement.
