Protests erupt in Lahore against Sweden incident

 Hundreds of people belonging to religious and political organizations and the business community on Sunday took out many protest processions in the provincial capital city on Sunday to condemn the desecration of the holy Quran in Sweden.


According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the participants in these protest rallies and demonstrations strongly condemned the recent incident of desecration of the Holy Quran.


Carrying banners inscribed with their demands, they urged the Muslim rulers to put up strong resistance to this ugly practice and get united to have global legislation.


A rally was taken out from Thokar Niaz Baig to Niazi Chowk by the Tehreek Labaik Pakistan against the desecration of the Quran in Sweden. The participants demanded the Muslim Ummah expel the ambassadors of Sweden from their countries.

The protesters carried placards in which slogans were inscribed against the government of Sweden. They called on Islamic nations to take a strong and unified stand in support of the Holy Quran.

Addressing the rally, the speakers said that the OIC should convey the feelings of Muslims to European nations that the sanctity of the Holy Quran can never be tolerated.

They observed that the Holy Quran was burnt for the second time in Sweden, if the Muslim Ummah had acted timely against the first incident, this would not have been repeated.

Dozens of people including politicians, businessmen, and people from all walks of life protested against the Sweden government outside the Jamia Masjid Madinah Township.

Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Ajmal Hashmi led the rally. He demanded an “appropriate response” from the government over a “despicable crime” in the name of freedom of expression.

The participants warned that secular Europe which championed human rights is conspiring to destroy world peace by provoking the religious feelings of the Muslims.
Allama Akif Qadri, Ahmed Attari, Khuram Shahzad Madni, and others participated in the peaceful protest.

The Shia Ulama Council held a protest in Ichra against the desecration of the Quran in Sweden in which scholars of all sects participated.

The participants shouted slogans against the Swedish government and demanded the immediate expulsion of the Swedish ambassador from Islamabad.

On this occasion, Secretary Shia Ulema Council Punjab Qasim Ali Qasmi strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran.
