Lahore Police set new record in crime reduction, beat own benchmark
Lahore Police have significantly reduced crime across the city, surpassing its own performance from previous years and setting a new benchmark in law enforcement efficiency, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.
According to six-month data released by the department, serious crimes in the first half of 2025 have dropped by 68% compared to the same period in 2023, and by 49% compared to 2024. A total of 12,484 serious crimes were reported so far this year, down from 24,445 in 2024 and 39,260 in 2023.
The data, compiled from calls and complaints received via the emergency helpline "One Five," reflects a citywide improvement in law and order, with major reductions in high-profile crime categories:
Robbery cases fell by 81% from 2023 and 69% from 2024
Drug-related murders dropped by 69% from 2023 and 60% from 2024
Vehicle theft went down by 56% compared to 2023 and 44% compared to 2024
Motorcycle theft reduced by 36% from 2024
Motorcycle snatching declined by 61%, and vehicle snatching by 71%
DIG Operations Lahore, Faisal Kamran, credited the dramatic improvement to strategic reforms, technological integration, and the tireless efforts of police officers and personnel.
“There has been no political interference, appointments were made on merit, and we’ve dismantled the culture of recommendations,” he stated.
He also praised the role of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority in enhancing surveillance and intelligence gathering, which played a vital role in controlling crime.
“From Eid to PSL matches, we ensured the safety of every major event. Lahore's improved law and order situation has now been recognised globally, thanks to transparent and authentic data,” Kamran added.
The DIG emphasised that this decline wasn’t a coincidence but the result of consistent hard work and better utilisation of resources.
“As per the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister, we are committed to achieving even better results in the coming months,” he affirmed.
