The governing body of Higher Education Commission has reviewed issues related to the quality of higher education, governance and educational reforms in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The 47th important meeting of the governing body of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) chaired by Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar considered the implementation of outcome-based education in higher education institutions.

The meeting took important decisions to improve the skills of graduates and establish educational standards on modern lines.

The meeting proposed to align the regulatory framework for the establishment of new universities with national priorities and global standards.

The meeting also discussed devising a systematic mechanism for the approval of arts programs at the undergraduate level.

The meeting emphasized on further strengthening the quality assurance and governance of higher education in the public and private sectors.

The meeting expressed determination to maintain a balanced regulatory environment for academic performance, institutional efficiency and continuous improvement.

Representatives of federal secretaries, senior officials of all four provinces and vice-chancellors participated in the meeting.
