Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter makes headlines by adopting new name
Hollywood royalty Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, has made headlines by officially adopting a new name, Shi Joli.
The 19-year-old made her first public appearance under the new name last week at an exclusive Los Angeles fashion event, a private dinner celebrating French designer Isabel Marant’s latest collaboration with Net-A-Porter.
Shi Joli was credited as the choreographer for the evening’s performance by rising musician Luella.. Shi’s name change follows a recent legal milestone.
In May 2024, on her 18th birthday, she filed to remove her father Brad Pitt’s surname, seeking to be legally recognised as Shiloh Jolie.
The move is widely seen as a reflection of her strained relationship with her father. A judge approved the request later that year.
Shi Joli is not the only sibling to distance themselves from their father’s surname. Her younger sister Vivienne, 16, was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in Playbill credits while working with their mother on the Broadway production of The Outsiders.
Their older sister, Zahara, 20, introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” during her induction into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College.
The Jolie-Pitt children’s evolving identities appear to reflect not only personal growth but also a significant shift in family dynamics.
