Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly denied passport

A passport office in Lahore on Monday refused to process the passport of Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.

According to 24NewsHD TV, Bhachar lost his passport recently and he visited the Garden Town passport office on Monday to get a new one.

However, the passport office staff refused to process his passport, saying that his name was on the exit control list (ECL).

Bhachar was reportedly planning to go to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.

Bhachar, who is a lawmaker from Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced earlier this week plans to release a white paper on the performance of the Punjab government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Wednesday, Bhachar had accused the provincial government of misusing public funds for self-promotion.

Without mentioning the name of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Bhachar had accused her of investing people's money in her personal promotion and in the promotion of her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
