Prime Minister Imran Khan will tomorrow (Tuesday) chair a policy meeting to discuss the situation arising out of the resolution passed by the European Parliament (EP) calling for a review of the GSP+ status granted to Pakistan over the alleged abuse of blasphemy law, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and other senior officials will attend the meeting.
The sources disclosed that some important decisions were expected to be taken at the meeting.
The European Parliament had adopted a resolution on April 30 (Friday), in which it had called for a review of the GSP+ status granted to Pakistan in view of an "alarming" increase in the use of blasphemy accusations in the country as well as rising number of online and offline attacks on journalists and members of civil society organisations.
The resolution also called upon the Government of Pakistan to "unequivocally condemn" incitement to violence and ‘discrimination’ against religious minorities.
Apart from that, it expressed "deep concern" at the prevailing anti-French sentiment in Pakistan.
