A man has been shot dead in an apparent family dispute in Kharian, with police launching an investigation into the incident, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, the victim, identified as Mazhar Iqbal, is said to have been killed in the suburban area of Kaniyan.

According to police officials, two suspects, identified as Ali Sher, also known as Makha, and Haris, also known as Sonu, have been accused of killing their cousin.

The incident is reported to have taken place during an act of violence that escalated into a fatal shooting.

In his statement to the police, the victim’s brother, Abid Hussain, said that the suspects had taken Mazhar Iqbal on a motorcycle under the pretext of work.

The brother alleged that the accused cousins later subjected him to violence before opening fire, which resulted in his death.

Police at the Karali station have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother.

Officials said efforts are being made to trace and arrest the suspects as part of the ongoing inquiry.
