Heat-stricken people heave a sigh of relief as rain lashes Punjab 

Rain, accompanied by strong winds, lashed different parts of Punjab, including Lahore, in the early hours of Sunday, bringing down temperatures considerably and offering people respite from scorching heat, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In Lahore, showers were reported from Allama Iqbal Town, Sabza Zar, Ichhra, Township, Model Town, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Jinnah Hospital, Thokar Niaz Beg, Johar Town, Canal Road, Harbanspura, Tajpura and other areas.

Besides Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and other cities also received rain.

Rain turns weather pleasant in Islamabad

Yesterday’s rain turned weather pleasant in Islamabad as the minimum temperature in the federal capital came down to 18 degrees Celsius, while it was expected to reach 28 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon.

Winds were blowing at the speed of 18 kilometers per hour in the morning.

Temperatures to increase further in Karachi

On the other hand, temperatures in Karachi will increase further from today as the Met Office said that the maximum temperature in the port city would fluctuate between 38 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius, while it remained 28 degrees Celius on the minimum side on Sunday morning.

The level of moisture in the air stood at 75 per cent in the morning, while winds were blowing at the speed of 15 kilometers per hour.

The Met Office predicted that the maximum temperature in the city could rise to 41 degrees Celsius on Monday.

More showers predicted

The Met Office said that the weather would remain hot and dry in most parts of the country, especially in the south, where it would be extremely hot during the next 24 hours.

However, it forecast rain at a few places in upper KP, Kashmir, Gilgit, Baltistan, north-east Punjab and Potohar region of Punjab during the next 24 hours.

The Met Office said that some areas in Kashmir, Potohar region and north-east Punjab might also receive hails.
