Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has been observing the 42nd death anniversary of the former prime minister and founder of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto aka Quaid-e-Awam on Sunday (today), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Zardari’s message

Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) President Asif Ali Zardari said that the philosophy and ideology of the founder of Pakistan People’s Party, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is guidance for us and the PPP will continue to safeguard the parliamentary system in the country.

President Zardari in a message on the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto said that the party will never compromise on the principle that people are the source of power. The Quaid-e-Awam built this nation from the ashes of defeat and gave the downtrodden masses a voice and courage to fight for their rights.

Former president Asif Zardari said the ZAB changed the trend in politics and established the rule of the people. He showed the world that the true leader of the people accepts death with grace but does not compromise on principles, he added.

Zardari said that today we reiterate our resolve to continue to defend the country and its constitution. “The PPP gave the 1973 constitution and restored it in its original form by the 18th Amendment and fulfilled the promise of provincial autonomy made by the Quaid-e-Awam to the people. The PPP will defeat all the conspiracies against the 18th Amendment,” Zardari vowed.

Bilawal’s message

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in a message on Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's martyrdom day paid glowing tribute to the founder of the party and the former prime minister.

“Today there would have been a welfare state with a vibrant economy and society and Pakistan would have been a role model for the whole world had Zulfikar Ali Bhutto not been murdered,” Bilawal said.

Bilawal said Bhutto was the matchless leader and till date the constitution of 1973 was the best democratic success.

“We need to turn to the teachings and vision of Shaheed Bhutto at this time as there is an urgent need to walk the path of true democracy again. The PPP will continue its struggle for a strong, democratic, egalitarian and progressive Pakistan,” Bilawal said.

The PPP also posted speeches of the former prime minister on social media accounts. “Pakistan became nuclear power, got a constitution, unity of the Muslim Ummah, restoration of democracy and voice of the common man was revenged in the form of judicial assassination of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, but even today the third generation of Bhutto family is engaged in struggle for rule of law,” PPP said in a statement posted on Twitter.
