PM-Naqvi meeting pays off as CDA restores original transport fares

Good news for the residents of Islamabad as only a day after Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi’s meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday reversed the increase in the fares of the urban transport system, which it had announced recently, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

The CDA had announced a 100 per cent increase in the fares from June 1. 

However, following Naqvi’s orders, transporters in the federal capital would charge passengers the original fares from today.  

In its public notice, the CDA said that commuters travelling on Green Line, Blue Line and electric buses would be charged Rs50 for each stop. 

As many as 90,000 passengers will benefit from the CDA’s decision.

The interior minister had on Tuesday met with the prime minister and requested him the reversal of the fares. 

The PM immediately ordered the reversal, saying that an increase in fares ahead of Eidul Azha amounted to snatching happiness from the people.
