Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a review meeting on the Fuel Subsidy Scheme and directed authorities to further strengthen accountability mechanisms to ensure maximum benefits reach deserving beneficiaries.

The meeting reviewed assistance being provided under the scheme to public transport operators, motorcycle owners and farmers, according to an official statement.

Participants were informed that four instalments of the Fuel Subsidy Scheme had been released fortnightly over the past two months.

The meeting also examined matters related to transparency, accountability, and coordination with provincial governments in implementing the scheme.

Dar expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far and directed officials to continue the effective implementation of the subsidy programme.

He emphasised the need to further strengthen oversight and accountability systems to ensure that financial assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries transparently.
