Federal budget for FY 2026-27 to be tabled on June 10: Finance Ministry

The Ministry of Finance has announced on Wednesday that the federal budget for the next fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented on June 10, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget in the National Assembly. 

According to Ministry of Finance, the budget for the next financial year will include the government's fiscal priorities and policy measures. The government will announce economic targets and fiscal strategy for 2026-27, Ministry of Finance added. 

The National Economic Survey for the current fiscal year will be released on June 9, ahead of the budget. Federal Finance Minister to present Pakistan Economic Survey 2025-26. The Economic Survey will present a comprehensive review of the economic performance of the current fiscal year. The survey will include details of the development, challenges and economic indicators of various sectors. 

According to Ministry of Finance, budget 2026-27 and economic survey will determine the direction of the country's economy. The government will outline revenue, expenditure, development projects for the next financial year. 

According to TV channel report, summaries seeking the convening of sessions of both the National Assembly and the Senate have been sent to the Presidency ahead of the budget presentation.

Before the parliamentary session begins, the federal cabinet is scheduled to meet on the morning of June 10 to formally approve the budget. Finance Minister Aurangzeb to present the budget in the NA.

The cabinet is also expected to consider and approve proposals relating to increases in salaries and pensions for government employees and retirees.

The budget date announcement comes after successful negotiations between the government and its coalition partner, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which cleared the way for the presentation of the financial plan.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, a government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with a PPP delegation in Islamabad. The discussions resulted in a consensus on a range of proposals that were subsequently forwarded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final consideration.

Participants in the meeting held detailed consultations on the government's economic targets and key fiscal measures for the upcoming financial year. The discussions also covered priorities for current and development expenditure, including allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

The agreement between the coalition partners is expected to provide political support for the government’s fiscal agenda as it seeks to address economic challenges while maintaining development spending and public welfare commitments.
