Government seeks Rs692.9m for security during Iran-US talks in Islamabad

The federal government has sought additional funds exceeding Rs692.9 million to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the peace talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, sources said.

According to sources, the Ministry of Interior has prepared a summary requesting additional funds to meet security requirements for the high-level diplomatic engagement.

The summary has been forwarded to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for approval, sources said.

Officials said the additional allocation has been sought for taking measures to strengthen security and ensure comprehensive arrangements during the talks, which drew significant international attention.

The ECC is expected to consider the Interior Ministry’s request in an upcoming meeting, sources added.
