Indian win deprives Lahore from hosting Champions Trophy final

India’s victory over Australia in the first semi-final means that the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Dubai instead of Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

India beat Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage and Australia in the semifinal in Dubai on Tuesday, March 4.

Originally, only four matches were scheduled for Dubai during the eight-team tournament which runs from Sunday, February 19 until Sunda,y March 9.

Pakistan are the official hosts of the tournament but all of India’s matches have been moved to Dubai following a dispute between the BCCI and PCB.

India finished top of Group A having won all three of their fixtures which meant that their semi-final was played at the 25,000 capacity stadium in Dubai Sports City.

And after India made it all the way to the final then it will also be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9.

The Champions Trophy sees the top eight ranked men’s teams from the 2023 Cricket World Cup group stage pitted against each other.

Pakistan qualified as the official host country and was joined by India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa.
