Sacred Games star Kubbra Sait breaks silence on emotional trauma of abortion

Indian actress Kubbra Sait has shared her emotional journey of undergoing a medical abortion and its lasting impact on her life.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the Sacred Games star admitted that she didn’t perceive her decision as an act of bravery but rather as a moment of weakness.

“When I went through the abortion, I don’t think I was being strong at all. I was just too weak to take it forward. I didn’t have the courage or the strength to say that if I don’t do this, then I will live with it. I felt very weak at that time. I felt hollow. I felt like I was not worth it at all,” she revealed.

Kubbra went through the procedure alone, and it was only later that she realized the need to share her story and show kindness to herself.

“But what came out of it much later was strength. That you made a decision for yourself and stood by your own thoughts. You broke stereotypical patterns, you broke societal norms, and no one knew about it. I went by myself and got myself through the abortion. I didn’t tell anyone,” she added.

It was weeks later, during a conversation with a friend who felt neglected, that Kubbra finally spoke about her experience.

“I just told her. ‘Who went through an abortion? You?’ And that’s when it hit her and that’s when it hit me. I started weeping because I had not told this to anyone. No one knew what I had gone through,” she said.

Reflecting on the emotional toll, she admitted she hadn’t realized at the time how profoundly it could affect her life.

“What if I died? And you are taking this decision all by yourself. No one knows, and no one cares. And this is not a small decision in your life. You don’t know how it’s going to impact the rest of your life.”

Kubbra Sait was last seen in Deva alongside Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde. She is set to appear next in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. After rising to fame with the 2018 Netflix series Sacred Games, she has starred in shows like Waqalat From Home, Farzi, The Trial, and Shehar Lakhot.
