Prince William pays tribute to Sir David Attenborough, calls him an inspiration for his children

Prince William has hailed legendary broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenborough as a powerful inspiration for himself and his children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—as the environmentalist approaches his 99th birthday on May 8, 2025.

In a heartfelt tribute published by The Mail, the Prince of Wales praised Attenborough’s decades-long dedication to the planet, calling him “a true giant” and celebrating his “lifetime of extraordinary service.” William urged, “May we all raise a glass to a true giant – and continue the mission he has led with such grace and urgency.”

Reflecting on Attenborough’s lasting impact, the future king added, “His voice has become a guiding light in our understanding of nature, and his message – that we must cherish and protect our planet – has never been more vital.” He further shared, “He has inspired my children and me in so many ways.”

Sir David Attenborough, who has worked closely with Prince William’s Earthshot Prize and also collaborated with King Charles on environmental issues, is set to mark his birthday with the release of a new documentary titled Ocean. In it, he reflects on his lifelong journey exploring and educating the world about the wonders of Earth.

The tribute comes as Prince William continues to promote environmental consciousness among younger generations, echoing Attenborough’s own mission of global stewardship.
