President Zardari, Qatari PM discuss trade, investment and regional peace in Doha meeting

President Asif Ali Zardari met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha on Tuesday, where the two leaders discussed expanding bilateral relations, trade, and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar.

The Qatari Prime Minister arrived at the hotel especially to meet President Zardari. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed ongoing partnerships and explored new avenues for collaboration in various sectors, particularly energy and capital markets.

President Zardari invited Qatar to enhance investment in Pakistan, especially in the Pakistan Stock Exchange, while Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani assured that Qatar would further increase its investment volume in the exchange and other economic sectors.

President Zardari also praised the Qatari leadership for its diplomatic stance amid Israeli aggression, acknowledging Qatar’s consistent support for humanitarian causes in the region. He further congratulated Qatar on the successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022, terming it a source of pride for the Muslim world.

The Qatari Prime Minister, in turn, commended the courage of the Pakistani nation and armed forces during the recent Indo-Pak conflict and expressed optimism over ongoing peace-building efforts in Afghanistan.

The meeting was also attended by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar.
