Malaysia’s High Commissioner says Pakistan and Malaysia aspire for economic prosperity

The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, has said that Pakistan and Malaysia are committed to pursuing economic stability and prosperity, disclosing that the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to Malaysia next month.

The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan made these remarks while addressing a reception hosted to mark Malaysia’s 68th Independence and National Day. Minister of State for Finance, Bilal Azhar Kayani, graced the occasion as chief guest. The event was attended by a large number of political, social, and diplomatic dignitaries and diplomats.

Following the national anthems of both countries, the High Commissioner Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, in his address, highlighted that soon after achieving independence in 1957, Malaysia established its first High Commission in Karachi, underscoring the historical depth of Pakistan–Malaysia relations. He expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would further strengthen bilateral ties.

The High Commissioner reiterated Malaysia’s support for Pakistan’s greater engagement with ASEAN, emphasizing Malaysia’s aspiration to see Pakistan become ASEAN’s Full Dialogue Partner from ASEAN’s Sectoral Dialogue Partner.

In his remarks, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that over 4,000 Pakistani students are currently pursuing education in Malaysia, in addition to the strong presence of the Pakistani diaspora. He underscored that several important agreements are expected to be finalized during the Prime Minister’s visit and stressed Pakistan’s resolve to elevate its partnership with Malaysia to new heights.

The reception also featured a documentary showcasing Malaysia’s journey of development, followed by the ceremonial cake cutting by dignitaries.
