A major landsliding incident has severely affected the remodelling project at Jhika Gali Chowk in Murree, forcing authorities to order immediate evacuations in the surrounding area. Mosque announcements were made urging residents to vacate their homes as a precautionary measure.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, emergency evacuations are underway as several houses have developed large cracks in walls, roofs, and verandas, making them unsafe for habitation.

Residents have begun relocating along with their belongings amid fears of further landsliding.

The landsliding, which has been ongoing for several days, has uprooted dozens of trees and caused significant damage to nearby infrastructure, including roads and a mosque in the affected locality.

Residents have expressed serious concerns, urging the government to restore the affected area before continuing with the chowk’s remodelling project.

They warned that if the landsliding is not controlled, hundreds more houses could be at risk.

Locals also called for immediate preventive measures to avoid any major loss of life or property, stressing the urgency of the situation as the ground continues to shift.
